 Salvete, Spartanae Familiae!

4th Grade

This past week finished our Romulus and Remus stories and started talking about Grammatical Gender. We discussed how Latin uses Masculine, Feminine, and Neuter as categories for Noun endings, and we used our mini white boards to practice as a class.

6th Grade

This past week we started Chapter 8; Gladtiatores, and hit the ground running by translating Amphitheatrum. We also spent some time talking about the Gladiatorial shows and what they looked like in Pompeii. In grammar we encountered the accusative plural ending and have been practicing identifying it in our warm ups.

New Vocabulary Alert! 6th grade received the first half of their Quarter 2 vocabulary last week, and they'll have their first Q2 quiz Friday, November 5th

We'll continue translating gladiatores next week, and we'll also wrap up our discussion of the Gladtiatorial games and the riot at Pompeii.

It's a quiet joy to be snug in the classroom as the months grow darker and the weather grows colder. On top of that, there is something about the autumn months that make studying an ancient language feel thematically appropriate.
